Everett First Church of the Nazarene celebrated its 100th anniversary on September 30, 2007. The church was filled with joyous singing, fellowship, praise, and worship as members and former members, visitors and friends gathered to commemorate what God has done and continues to do through his church on the corner of 25th Street and Lombard Avenue.
Pastor Marvin Bressler (1991-present) led the celebration service and was joined by former pastor Rev. Rex Miller (1965-1975) who shared memories of his tenure in leadership with the church. Former church staff members, Bob Propeck and Dave Goebel, gave witness to God’s faithfulness. The “Crossroads – Revised Version Quartet” and musicians Jean Hoyle, Monica Hughes, Dr. Rodney Hoyle, Dave Goebel, and Jay Lawson (current music director for Everett First) blessed the hearts of God’s people in song.
Dr. Terry Ketchum, WaPac’s Director of Church Resources, opened the Word from Hebrews 13 and reminded all who were present that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” Following the service, a time of Christian fellowship was enjoyed in the Activity Center with lunch offered by the church.
