Pastor John Grant (Shelton Nazarene) writes:
"It was awesome! 100+ hungry young (and not-so-young) people came together for one purpose—to experience God’s presence. It was a vision God gave to one young person to gather together for a night of prayer and worship. One person became 16; 16 became over a hundred—people from lots of different churches in Shelton. It wasn’t a church thing, it was a God thing; we just happened to host it.
"The Sanctuary was set up for worship. Pews were pulled. Folks stood, sat on the floor, kneeled, prostrated themselves. The music was lively, loud, and all about God. There was silence to listen, prayers of adoration, people made the connection.
"There was another room filled with 5 alternate worship stations. A place to light a candle and pray for someone, an art station, a place to wash your hands—symbolizing God washing over you making you clean, a place to pray and confess your sin to God—and then to shred them, there was also a communion station set up. It was holy ground.
"The truly amazing thing has been the response in the days and weeks since that night. Comments from people saying it was a sacred high point of their summer. Some saying they had never experienced God as being so real as that night. All hungry for more.
"Testimony of a participant: 'Last night was just an amazing night at "Night at the Naz." I don't know if I've ever been somewhere that had the central focus of glorifying Jesus and seeking his presence, just so that we could be with him. I loved the simplicity of it. It wasn't over-planned and so I felt like the flow wasn't hindered by our own expectations.'"
