Nazarene Youth Camps maxed out the Dunes Bible Camp facilities this past summer. One hundred sixty Jr. High age campers, along with forty-one staff and assistants, did not let the rain dampen their spirits. The Great Chase (theme of the week) led to loads of fun as camp director, Rob Anderson (Marysville), inspired leaders and campers to develop relationships that will last a lifetime. Camp speaker, Jimmy Skeen, provided inspiration from the Word as he led the camp in understanding that as Christians, our identity is in Christ. From that identity we find our mission, our passion, and our purpose. NNU’s summer group, Parable, participated in the week’s activities and gave exemplary leadership in real life situations as well as skits that provided laughter, insight, and opportunity for reflection. WaPac’s NYI president, Trent Friberg (Centralia) reported that twenty-five of our churches were represented at Jr. High camp and that “God’s presence filled the week.”
Senior High camp, under the inspiring leadership of Matt Bissonnette (Kent First), hosted one hundred fifty-nine campers and thirty-nine staffers to Camp ALOHA (theme of the week). Camp speaker, Tim Milburn, spoke to campers and leaders alike about letting go, character, doubts, passion, confession, God’s call and asked the poignant question, “where is the church?”. NNU was well represented with two summer groups, Covenant and Witness. Trent Friberg (WaPac district NYI president) commented that the week was filled with “great game, great weather, days at the lake, and the Spirit’s leading throughout!”
